About - History

JSC Federal Credit Union began operations December 27, 1961 as MSC Federal Credit Union, working out of a small office in the Farnsworth Chambers Building. Later, the office moved to Building Two (on the current JSC Clear Lake site), then to Building Eleven.

JSC Federal Credit Union was originally chartered to serve employees of Johnson Space Center in Houston.

In 1975, JSC Federal Credit Union moved into its current Main Office location at 1330 Gemini in the Clear Lake area of Houston. The Main Office underwent major renovations in 1987 and again in 2001.

In April 1993, the first branch office was opened in League City. This was followed by additional branch offices in Ellington (June 1993) and Friendswood (May 1996). JSC Federal Credit Union expanded onto Galveston Island after absorbing Galveston Industries FCU in October 2000. In November 2002, JSC FCU merged with Texas Star FCU complete with 2 branches in Texas City. The Credit Union's expansion continued with the February 2004 merge with GTX FCU in Pasadena, and then with the opening of a branch office in Dickinson in November 2005.  JSC FCU's growth then continued with the May 2007 opening of a branch in Pearland, the July 2007 opening of a branch in Seabrook, and the August 2007 opening of a second branch office in League City.  In December 2007 the Credit Union's expansion continued with the merger of Monument Area Federal Credit Union and the January 2008 opening of a branch in Deer Park.  JSC Federal Credit Union's growth continued in 2008 with the opening two more branches.  A second Deer Park branch office and a La Porte branch office both opened in June 2008.

From its humble beginnings in cramped offices 40 years ago, JSC Federal Credit Union has grown to serve over 105,000 members and 1,200+ Select Employee Groups (SEGs) throughout the Greater Bay Area. Offering a full array of financial products and services, JSC Federal Credit Union stands poised to continue this tradition of member service excellence for many years to come.
