What should I do if I am out of town and my credit/debit card is declined but the funds are available?
If this occurs during business hours 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. MST, contact the Visa Department at 1-800-940-0708. If the line is busy and you receive a voice recording, please leave a telephone number where you can be reached during JSC FCU business hours.

If you call after hours or during the weekend, please leave a message and your call will be returned on the first available business day.

How do I apply for a debit card?
The VISA Check (Debit) Card and ATM Card Application form is located on the Forms & Documents page under Applications. You can also contact a Member Services representative at 281.488.7070 or 800.940.0700 or visit one of our branch locations. JSC also has four convenient locations to create debit/ATM cards: Clear Lake/Main Office, Tuscan Lakes Branch, Bay Colony Branch, and the Deer Park Branch.

How old does a member have to be to apply for a Visa credit or a cebit card?
A member must be 18 years of age to enter into a binding contract on a VISA credit card.

If a member is at least 16 years old, with a parent joint on their account they can apply for a VISA debit card.

Can I select my own pin number for my debit or ATM card?
Yes, on the application you will select your own four digit pin number. The VISA Check (Debit) Card and ATM Card Application is located on the Forms & Documents page under Applications.

What is the limit on my Debit card?
The limit of use on a debit card is $500.00 a day used with a pin and $2500.00 when used as credit.

How many times can I use my ATM card before I am charged a fee?
You are allowed four ATM withdrawals in a one month period before you are charged a fee by the credit union. You can still be assessed a transaction fee from the ATM you are using if it is not one of our Allpoint ATM's.

Can I use my Visa Credit or Debit card internationally?
Yes, VISA Credit and Debit cards can be used for international merchant transactions. Please note there is a 1% fee for all international transactions.

What is the difference between a Credit Card and a Debit Card?
A credit card is a revolving loan account that requires a payment at a later date. A debit card removes funds directly from a checking account.

When would I use my pin number with my VISA Credit Card?
A pin number can be used at an ATM, this is considered a cash advance.

Is there a grace period for a cash advance?
There is not grace period for a cash advance.

Is there a limit amount for a cash advance on a VISA credit card?
No, there is not a limit on a cash advance provided the credit limit is available.  However, there are limits set on an ATM withdrawal. These limits are set by the financial institution and can vary from ATM to ATM.

Can I use my VISA credit card to get cash at an ATM?
es, you can use your VISA credit card at any ATM. You will be issued a PIN when you receive your credit card.

How do I dispute a charge(s) that appears on my credit card?
For your convenience a dispute form is available on the back of your monthly credit card statement. You may also provide us a letter detailing your dispute or you can download the form off of StarPC.

What is the minimum payment for my Visa credit card?
The payment is calculated at 3.5% of the daily average balance.

Can I use Electronic Bill Payment to make a payment on my credit card?
Yes, you can pay your credit card bill through our Online Payment Center or any system of your choice.

When is my VISA payment due?
Payment is due 25 days after the cycle date of your statement.  Monthly payments are due on the 19th or 20th.

When is my VISA payment available for use?
VISA payments are available on the next business day. For example, if a payment is made on Monday, it will be available on Tuesday. However, if a payment is made on a Friday, it will available on Monday.

Why am I being charged cash advance interest when I have paid the statement balance?
In order to stop the cash advance interest, your VISA must be paid to zero. On that day the interest stops accruing. For example, if you did a cash advance on the 1st of the month and pay the balance to zero on the 15th of the month, your interest stops accruing. However, on the closing date, which is the 25th of every month, interest will be posted for the 15 days the money was borrowed.

How do I remove an authorized user from my Visa account?
The primary member will need to complete and sign a short form and surrender the authorized user's card at that time. To remove an authorized user, please complete the VISA Credit Card: Request to Remove Authorized User form found on the Forms & Documents page under Account Forms.

Can I change the PIN/Password on my ATM/VISA Debit Card?
Yes, come in to any branch location with your card to have it re-PINed.

What is my PIN Number?
Your PIN (Personal Identification Number) is a security code that allows us to verify that a request to access your account is authorized by you. Your confidential PIN prevents unauthorized use and ensures complete security when making transactions on your accounts.

Once the card is ordered, it takes 7 to 10 business days to receive the card.

If I order a card because it is damaged, will my current card work? 
Once the new card is ordered, the damaged card will not work. When you receive the new card in the mail you must call and activate it.

To activate your new card call the 800-number printed on the sticker on the front of your card.  You cannot activate a credit or debit card online.
