How to Add/Update a Beneficiary

Good to Know: 

    • Beneficiary is not required to be present to be added
    • Required beneficiary information: Name, date of birth, full social security number and address
    • Complete EIN# is required if choosing an organization as a beneficiary
    • In order to receive funds as a beneficiary, the person will need to be the age of 18 or older with a current ID 
    • If the beneficiary is under the age of 18 when the account owners pass, the beneficiary's legal guardian will need to be appointed Financial Guardian by the court. Financial Guardianship paperwork will be required before funds are dispersed. 

 

In Branch: 

    • A beneficiary can be added by visiting a JSC FCU branch.
    • All account holders - primary and joint - will need to be present to update the account card (signature card). 
    • Required beneficiary information: Name, date of birth, full social security number and address
    • Complete EIN# is required if choosing an organization as a beneficiary
    • The JSC FCU representative will then provide a new account card (signature card) to sign.

 

By Mail: 

    • The primary member can request a new account card (signature card) from the Credit Union or print one out
    • All account holders - primary and joint - need to fill out and sign the account card (signature card).
    • On the back of the account card (signature card), the beneficiary's information will need to be filled out. 
        • Required beneficiary information: Name, date of birth, full social security number and address
        • Complete EIN# is required if choosing an organization as a beneficiary
    • Once the Credit Union receives the account card (signature card), the beneficiary information will be updated.  
    • If there are additional questions, a JSC FCU representative will contact the primary member.
