When connecting to the Internet, you are vulnerable to cyber attacks. Follow these tips to help protect your sensitive information while using the Internet:
- Update your OS with recommended security patches
- Update applications with recommended security patches
- Password protect with a complex password including alpha, numeric and special characters
- Install and frequently update antivirus software as well as run scans and check for renewal of software annually
- Lock computer when not in use
- Do not store username or passwords in unencrypted\non-secure location
- Do not click or open links/attachments you are not expecting to receive, even if they are from a trusted source
- Backup your computer frequently via encrypted removable or online storage solutions
- Frequently change your passwords
- Delete all temporary internet files and cookies
