When connecting to the Internet, you are vulnerable to cyber attacks. Follow these tips to help protect your sensitive information while using the Internet: 

  • Update your OS with recommended security patches
  • Update applications with recommended security patches
  • Password protect with a complex password including alpha, numeric and special characters
  • Install and frequently update antivirus software as well as run scans and check for renewal of software annually
  • Lock computer when not in use
  • Do not store username or passwords in unencrypted\non-secure location
  • Do not click or open links/attachments you are not expecting to receive, even if they are from a trusted source
  • Backup your computer frequently via encrypted removable or online storage solutions
  • Frequently change your passwords
  • Delete all temporary internet files and cookies
